Our free creative media workshops are perfect for young people aged 12 to 18 who are interested in photography, news reporting, and filmmaking. Led by youth workers and a journalist, these hands-on sessions will help them develop new skills whilst having fun!

Wednesday 6th August – Photography (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Young people will learn how to use a professional camera and explore composition, lighting, and storytelling through images. They will work on a journalistic brief and head to a real-world location to capture powerful photographs.

Wednesday 13th August – News Reporting for TV (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

This session will introduce young people to the world of TV journalism. They will learn how news stories are planned, filmed, and edited before writing their own script, conducting interviews, and recording a news report using professional equipment.

Wednesday 20th August – Filmmaking for Social Media (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

For those interested in creating content for platforms like TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram, this workshop will cover the best filming and editing techniques. Young people will learn about framing, transitions, and how to make their videos stand out.

Wednesday 27th August – Filmmaking (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

In this workshop, young people will have the opportunity to plan, film, and edit their own short film. They will start with storyboarding and scripting in the morning, then shoot scenes using professional equipment before editing their footage in the afternoon.
